  Thanksgiving Meal - The Zone Diet Recipes

Grilled turkey, lots of fresh herbs on top, garlic, rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano, green onion tops, (on the outside, under the skin and in the cavities.) Cover with tin foil. I usually grill mine for 2 1/2 hours (20 lb'er). Uncover at the end for 10 minutes if trying to brown.
Fresh broccoli, asparagus and cauliflower steamed, al dante, then drizzle garlic olive oil or basil olive oil over it. (Great)
Green bean casserole, with French cut beans, mushrooms and mushroom soup (no salt no fat) with onion ring garnish on top.
Chicken salad. 4-5 grilled chicken breasts with garlic on them, celery pieces, onion pieces, coriander (fresh) leaves, green pepper pieces (or hot green pepper for the daring...I love it..kick it up a notch!) cucumber pieces, grapes, almond slivers, then add non-fat mayo sauce, (put mayo in a bowl with dill pickle juice and pepper and mix, then add to salad.)
Coleslaw (Fresh cabbage with non-fat or partial fat coleslaw dressing)
Yellow squash oven baked, add raisons and almond butter on top, or just yellow squash and garlic olive oil.
Mashed cauliflower. Boiled till WAY soft, then mash up, add a little non-fat milk or yogurt if desire to soften. Or mash turnips, same way.
Gravy. Go to a ZONE gravy in the zone books.
Fruit salad, mix of fruit, with yogurt on the side to put over the top, if desired.
On the grill in tin foil put olive oil (I live the garlic oil, but basil or any other good too) then layer with rings of onions, mushrooms on top, the slices of Italian sausage tofu layered on the very top. Grill in tin foil for 20-25 minutes.
Stuffing. There's lots of stuffings besides "breading or corn bread" stuffings. There's Italian sausage stuffings, all meat-types with celery, onion, almost meat-loaf like. but flaky with a fork. Use one of these.
Bread: Use Manitowoc Ovens bread, spread with almond butter and broil in oven...nice crunch to it.
Salad of your making with vinegar and oil dressing, or a healthy dressing of some sort.
For snacks, put cheese sticks, berries, nuts, wine, beer, shrimp. There's also the zone snacks available, the different chips, etc.
Dessert could be something like apple slices with non-fat caramel sauce to dip in, or regular caramel apples, (fancy kind with nuts, M&M's on it, whatever) then put out a knife and cut yourself a small slice. Have a variety of apple types with different toppings, plain available along side "sugar" coated for all to enjoy. Again, the fruit and yogurt on the side can be saved until now. Or yogurt with pine nuts added, a few berries added also.
